This is the end of the second section of Matthew’s gospel. The next section introduces Jesus’ passion and ministry in Jerusalem. Here we see what it means that Jesus is the “Son of David.” The blind men “see” Jesus as the Messiah and the King of Mercy while the crowd does not understand his work or his mission. We are encouraged to remember the king we serve and what it means to be his disciples. The text is Matthew 20:29-34.
We will consider these four points:
1. The blind men and their cry.
2. The crowd and their rebuke.
3. The savior and his mercy.
4. The response of faith and the lesson for us.
