The Doctrine of Unity (pt. 2)

We continue in our study of Ephesians where Paul is applying what he taught in the first three chapters of Ephesians and he begins with an urgent appeal to unity.  Our text is Ephesians 4:1-6. As we saw last time, Paul repeats the word “one” seven times in a trinitarian statement about unity. Last time we looked at verse 4, which focuses on the work of the Spirit. This week we will focus on verse 5, which describes the unity that is in Christ.  We will consider what Paul means when he says there is One Lord, One Faith, One Baptism. And we’ll consider how is this a statement that unites the church.
