In Matthew16:21-23, Jesus begins to set his face to go to Jerusalem to die on the cross. He begins to teach his disciples what will happen to him there, but Peter, as the spokesman, does not yet understand the necessity of the cross.
We will consider these four points from the text:
1. The offense of the cross.
2. The necessity of the cross.
3. Jesus’ zeal for the cross.
4. Application for our faith today.
