We are beginning a new sermon series on the book of Jonah. In this first sermon, I want to introduce you to the book as a whole and to the great theme of the book. This will be an introduction/overview of the whole book. Jonah is a unique prophet among all the prophets because of his experience and calling in his time. The message of the book is both an indictment against Israel for their pride and presumption, as well as their failure to appreciate the true grace of God and to appreciate their own need for grace & the abandonment of their calling to be a light to the nations. But it’s also a foreshadow of the great things that will come through the greater than Jonah – the Lord Jesus Christ.
