We come to chapter three of Jonah which records the miracle of the repentance of Ninevah. This is an even greater miracle than the miracle with the fish. The repentance of Ninevah was both a rebuke to Israel’s presumption and a foreshadowing of greater things to come through the greater than Jonah. We will consider what Jesus said about it and how it encourages us to repent in view of God’s revealed mercy. Also, it encourages our confidence in the gospel and the preaching of the word today as Jesus promised to be at work through it.
