As we move from chapter eight of Romans to chapter nine, we go from the heights to the depths. The apostle shifts from expressing great joy and confidence to expressing great anguish of heart. We will be talking about the mystery of the absolute sovereignty of God in salvation and godly concern over the plight of unbelievers. The text is Romans 9:1-8. The message is entitled Godly Sorrow Over Unbelievers. We will consider these four points:
- The cause of the apostle’s anguish.
- The privileges of the Jews.
- The distinction among Israel.
- Application and implications for our faith.
