In Romans 15 Paul continues to give gospel application to the church. This passage highlights the blessings of the gospel as Paul emphasizes the joy and peace that comes with faith. Though the christian life is filled with trials, God’s purpose is not to burden but to encourage us as believers. Here we see the universal blessing God intends for all who believe.
The message is entitled Experiencing the Comfort of the Gospel. We will consider these four points:
- The universal purpose of God in the gospel. (vv. 8-9a)
- The testimony of the Old Testament. (vv. 9b-12)
- Paul’s prayer of application. (v 13)
- Encouragement for our faith.
