As Jesus journeys on his way to Jerusalem to lay down his life for our salvation, he welcomes little children and blesses them. Here we see more of the grace of Christ revealed and his understanding of the place of children in his kingdom. This passage gives us encouragement for covenant nurture as well as all the ministry of the church. It also warns us against the pride and presumption that often exists in the church. The text is Matthew 19:13-15.
We will consider these four points:
1. What are the people doing and why?
2. What are the disciples doing and why?
3. What does Jesus do and why?
4. What does this mean for us today?
