A Presumptuous Request and the Glory of the Cross

As Jesus and the disciples approach Jerusalem, the disciples still have much to learn about the cross and what it means for us as disciples. Here we have a presumptuous request for glory along with a wonderful teaching opportunity as Jesus explains clearly why he came and what it means for his kingdom people.  The text is Matthew 20:17-28.
We will consider these five points:
1. The context of the request.
2. The request.
3 Jesus’ reply.
4. The reaction of the ten.
5. The lesson for all Jesus’ disciples.
