In our text, Matthew16:21-23, Jesus begins to set his face to go to Jerusalem to die on the cross. He begins to teach his disciples what will happen to him there, but Peter, as the spokesman, does not yet understand the necessity of the cross.
We will continue in the gospel of Matthew. Our text is Matthew 15:1-20. Here Jesus exposes religious hypocrisy. We will consider these three points. 1. Jesus’ conflict with Jewish authorities. 2. Jesus’ explanation of the true source of sin. 3. The implications for our faith.
